YOGA

Yoga has been practised in India for more than forty centuries. However it was not until two thousand years ago that the sage Patanjali codified many of the existing practices and brought them together in a single volume called the Yoga Sutras.Patanjali divides yoga into eight parts or limbs (ashtanga yoga). This eight-fold path has come to be known as Raja Yoga or the ‘royal path’ since it leads to the realization of one’s true nature.
HATHA : This is an umbrella term for any yoga style that focuses on poses. In common usage, however, a class billed as ’’hatha yoga’’ is likely to be a gentle, moderately paced blend of several types of hatha yoga.

Hatha Yoga is based on relaxation. The session begins with a relaxation exercise and some of the poses will alternate with further relaxation. The poses loosen up the body generally and induce a sense of internal peace.

ASHTANGA : Power yoga’s orthodox cousin, Ashtanga is vigorous and dynamic. You will move through a fast-paced series of sequential poses that focus on breathing, building strength and flexibility.

POWER : Power yoga’s is the funky North American cousin of ashtanga yoga. Classes, which may be any combination of aerobics, taï chi, yoga and meditation, are hot, sweaty and vigorous.
Expect a choreographed sequence of postures that flow into one another, building strength, unwinding tight joints and loosening muscles
